Handmade Greeting Card Workshop with IISO Students: Creativity, Community, and Hope in Tokyo

A warm and creative workshop in Tokyo where Toyo University volunteers and IISO students crafted eco‑friendly handmade greeting cards using recycled materials and dried flowers.

As part of the monthly cultural and volunteer workshops organized by the Toyo University Syria Volunteer Team, Syrian Hands held its first Handmade Greeting Card Workshop in collaboration with students from International Islamia School Otsuka (IISO). The event took place in Tokyo and brought together youth, volunteers, and supporters for a meaningful afternoon of creativity and community engagement.

Thanks to the warm participation and support of Yassin‑san, the workshop became a wonderful success. Students and volunteers crafted unique greeting cards using eco‑friendly materials—including handmade postcards made from recycled milk cartons, natural dried flowers, and heartfelt messages inspired by themes of love, peace, and hope.

The workshop offered participants a chance to explore new skills, enjoy hands‑on creativity, and learn about sustainable crafting practices. Many expressed how the experience helped them connect more deeply with Syrian Hands’ mission of supporting families and children through community‑based activities.

These beautiful cards will be enjoyed with families and later sold at upcoming charity bazaars in Tokyo, helping raise funds for Syrian Hands’ humanitarian programs.

In the spirit of the messages written on the cards, Syrian Hands will continue its work to spread hope, strengthen community bonds, and support vulnerable families across borders.
